Our Team: Overview
Founded in 1859 by the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, ChristieCare has served children in crisis through health epidemics, natural disasters and other crises. In 2006, the agency’s name was changed to ChristieCare to reflect our comprehensive programs and 21st century continuum of care. Our dedication has not wavered in nearly 150 years and remains a source of inspiration and focus for current ChristieCare staff and volunteers.
The ChristieCare team is committed to being culturally responsive, innovative, candid, fair, straightforward, and accountable, and focused on doing whatever it takes to get children “across the finish line” to enriched, fulfilling lives. The team holds each other accountable to the ChristieCare mission by establishing and achieving goals through appropriate, innovative and cost-effective programs and services.
Throughout our history, ChristieCare has placed great value on the role of volunteers and, more recently, mentors. Our Volunteer Program offers individuals and groups a wide range of community service opportunities, such as serving on fundraising committees, organizing activities for the children, and helping to maintain the physical facilities and grounds. Our Mentorship Program matches dedicated community members with children whose treatment and recovery will benefit greatly by the presence of a caring, committed adult in their lives.
The ChristieCare team is guided by our Values:
