ChristieCare Celebrates 150 years with Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison

luncheon invite

ChristieCare is honored to celebrate our 150th anniversary with a luncheon February 23, 2010 with special guest speaker, Kay Redfield Jamison, Ph.D. The luncheon, sponsored by Health Net (who has served as ChristieCare’s insurance provider for the past 33 years) will provide critical financial support benefiting the children and families throughout Oregon who receive the highest quality mental health services from ChristieCare. Today, studies show that one out of five children suffers from a diagnosable mental or emotional disorder. Since 1859, ChristieCare has served Oregon’s most vulnerable children and families.

Kay Redfield Jamison is one of the foremost experts on bipolar disorder; she has also suffered from the disorder since her early adulthood. Currently, Dr. Jamison is Professor of Psychiatry at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she is also Co-Director, of the Mood Disorders Center. Jamison is the author of the critically acclaimed and best-selling memoir, An Unquiet Mind, which details her experience with severe mania and depression. Jamison’s most recent novel, Nothing Was the Same is a chronicle of grief following the death of her husband, Dr. Richard Wyatt.

In true ChristieCare fashion, the luncheon will feature chocolate desserts from some of Portland’s finest chocolatiers and pastry chefs. We hope you will join us for an afternoon of thought-provoking conversation with one of the world’s premier mental health experts, in benefit of Oregon’s oldest and most respected children’s mental health organization.

The luncheon will be held Tuesday, February 23rd, at Portland’s Hilton Executive Tower in The Pavilion Ballroom; the program will begin at 11:30am. Tickets can be purchased for $100 by calling or emailing ChristieCare at: 503.675.2296 or a.johnson@christiecare.org
