ChristieCare Foundation Adds Resources, Expands Role
As ChristieCare has dramatically increased its array of mental health services for Oregon’s children and families, the need to strengthen and develop partnerships with private funders and donors has also intensified.
To meet this challenge, the ChristieCare Foundation has added four professional development staff to its team over the past seven months, led by Executive Director Lisa M. French.
“It was the right time to make this commitment to the children and families we serve,” said Kirk Gibson, President of the ChristieCare Foundation’s Board of Directors. “Public funding covers part of ChristieCare’s program costs, but private support is critical to ensure that the best possible care is provided. Our ultimate responsibility is to these children.”
The ChristieCare Foundation’s focus is to generate funds for ChristieCare through private foundations, corporations, individual donors and planned giving. All event-related fundraising activities – such as the ever popular Chocolate Ball – remain with ChristieCare under the leadership of Chief Executive Officer Lynne Hume Saxton.
The ChristieCare Foundation’s current objectives are to fund services including the Native American Program at Clackamas River Center, the Mosaic Transition Age Youth Program, the Children’s Receiving Center and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy.
Long term goals are to engage community support for ChristieCare’s 150th anniversary celebration in 2009 as well as a major capital improvement project planned for the organization’s historic Marylhurst campus. Endowment funds will also be developed to help ensure ChristieCare’s sustainability for the next 150 years.
