ChristieCare employee honored with mental health award for excellence
SALEM, Oregon, October 17, 2008 – ChristieCare is proud to announce that Sommer Wolcott has been honored with a Mental Health Award for Excellence for her work as Program Manager of Mosaic House, ChristieCare’s groundbreaking group home for transition-aged youth. The Addictions and Mental Health Division of the Oregon Department of Human Services held the 2008 awards ceremony at the Labor & Industries Building in downtown Salem which honored ten individuals for exemplary work in mental health and addictions services. All honorees were nominated by their peers.
ChristieCare’s Mosaic House is Oregon’s first group home for transition-aged youth (ages 17-24) who are transitioning from the children’s mental health system. Located in Oregon City, Mosaic serves young men and women who are no longer eligible for children’s services and need ongoing intensive mental health treatment, a population traditionally underserved. As manager of Mosaic, Sommer has been involved in the program’s development from its inception in 2007. Sommer has excelled at building partnerships at a county and state level, as well as with young adults and families, making Mosaic a valuable and necessary addition to the mental health services continuum in Oregon. Mosaic’s success as a program is due in large part to Sommer’s commitment to making the goals of independent, healthy living a reality for Mosaic’s young men and women.
