June 13th, 2009 – Thank you so much for helping to make Chocolate Unwrapped a sweet success! We are proud to announce that, with your help, we raised $175,000! With 2009 marking ChristieCare’s 150th Anniversary, we are more aware than ever of the critical importance of the work we do, and your support helps make that work possible. All proceeds from the evening will directly benefit the children and families we serve at ChristieCare.
Chocolate Unwrapped was choc-full of delectable desserts and delicious chocolate, but ChristieCare’s mission remained central. We were honored to have some truly impressive guests speak at the event. Allen Tremain, the father of a recent ChristieCare graduate, gave a poignant and brave speech that reminded us all of the challenges and importance of the ChristieCare’s mission to deliver mental health solutions to children and families. Additionally, Joanne Horstkotte was honored with a lifetime membership to the ChristieCare Board of Directors for her 32 years of service to the organization – her commitment continues to inspire.
A big congratulations goes to The Best Chocolate Dessert in Portland winner: Travis Foote and the Sweet Masterpiece team for their ‘Cheesecake Decadence Bar.’
We also salute The People’s Choice Winner for Best Chocolate Dessert in Portland: Andrew O’Connor from Whole Foods for his ‘Double Chocolate Blueberry Caramel Bomb.’
