ChristieCare Board Member honored with Mental Health Award for Excellence

Ajit Jetmalani

SALEM, Oregon, May 21, 2010 – ChristieCare is proud to announce that Dr. Ajit Jetmalani, ChristieCare Board Member since 2007, has been honored with a Mental Health Award for Excellence for his work as an advocate and clinician serving Oregon’s youth. Dr. Jetmalani currently serves as the Training Director for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Oregon Health & Science University.

Dr. Jetmalani’s recognition for his work as an “Exceptional Mental Health Service Provider” is an acknowledgement of a career-long commitment to innovation and improvement in treatment and outcomes for Oregon’s youth.

In the 1990s Dr. Jetmalani’s commitment to quality public health was evident in his service as medical director of Providence Health Plan’s Behavioral Health Division and as medical director of Providence’s Children’s Behavioral Health Center. Currently, he is a strong voice on the state’s Children’s System Advisory Committee promoting integrated physical and mental health services as a means of improving the lives of Oregon’s children and young people. At ChristieCare, Dr. Jetmalani’s clinical expertise and insight make him a highly valued member of our Board of Directors and leadership team.

Oregon’s Department of Human Services/Oregon Health Authority Addictions and Mental Health held the 2010 awards ceremony at the Labor & Industries Building in downtown Salem which honored eight individuals for exemplary work in mental health and addictions services. All honorees were nominated by their peers.
