ChristieCare, in collaboration with Serendipity Center, Inc. provides middle school and high school level education services to children served in our Cedar Bough Program at Clackamas River. These services are tailored to the therapeutic and educational needs of each child. Serendipity and ChristieCare share a commitment to individualized care and attention to different learning styles in the classroom and in each young person’s treatment.

Our goals are to create a classroom environment that fosters academic achievement while incorporating aspects of Native American culture and heritage. Examples of this commitment to tradition include weekly visits from members of the Portland Indian Elder Support Group who teach students traditional arts and crafts and, in so doing, help students feel connected to their communities and culture.

A complete educational record is compiled for each child, identify the appropriate educational track (such as full diploma or vocational program) and ensure that all students are on pace to achieve their full academic potential – particularly in preparation for a return to their communities or other less restrictive settings.
