Heron Creek Academy Therapeutic School

Girl with Lockers

This innovative, year-round program combines the expertise of Clackamas Education Service District (ESD) faculty and staff with ChristieCare clinical professionals to serve middle and high school students who require a behavioral treatment component to their education.

Based on Clackamas ESD’s success with special education and emotionally disturbed youth, this unique partnership is designed to maintain academic achievement while providing therapeutic support when needed in the classroom, with the goal of transitioning students into public schools or other less restrictive educational settings. The program also encourages family participation.

Special education teachers, social skills specialists and other professionals are available depending on each student’s needs. Faculty and staff work closely with each family’s mental health resources in the community to ensure that the child’s education is complemented by other services and supports critical to academic and therapeutic progress and success.
